Ian Foster (1981 - Present) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, producer and filmmaker, based in St. John's, Newfoundland.
A multi-MusicNL and ECMA nominated artist, Foster has toured his modern folk/roots songs internationally since 2007.[1] His latest album, Sleeper Years (2017), garnered positive reviews, with Foster being described as "the model modern Newfoundland songwriter"[2] with "some of the most effective modern folk in the region."[3]
Foster has produced albums for various artists including Kat McLevey ('Evergrown,' 2014) and Melanie O'Brien ('Shining in the Blue,' 2016). 'Evergrown' subsequently won two MusicNL Awards and received an ECMA nomination,[4] and 'Shining in the Blue' was nominated for two MusicNL Awards in 2017[5].
Foster's latest film, Keystone[6], debuted at the 2015 Calgary International Film Festival, and was named one of their 'top 10 short films of the year.'[7] His debut short, One More Song, won a Nickel Film Festival award for 'Best Original Screenplay' in 2013.[8]
