Ian O'Reilly (born 10 September 1999) is an Irish actor from Moorehall, County Mayo. He is best known for starring on Irish sitcom Moone Boy, co-written by and co-starring Chris O'Dowd.
Career[edit]
Since 2012 Ian has played Padraic O'Dwyer in Moone Boy, an Irish sitcom. In the series, which is set in the early 1990s, he has an imaginary friend called Crunchie Danger Haystacks; he is the best friend of Martin Moone, the youngest child of a family living in rural Boyle, County Roscommon. Martin, aided by his imaginary friend, has a unique perspective on life. His imagination comes into play both in his childish drawings, which come alive through animation, and in the ridiculous schemes he comes up with, against Seán's better judgement. With Seán's help, Martin negotiates life as the youngest in a chaotic, scatter-brained Irish family.
In January 2013, he (along with Moone Boy co-star David Rawle) appeared in Bressie's music video for his new single Show Me Love.[1] In 2015 O'Reilly was a guest presenter on TRTÉ's Swipe TV for 9 weeks, along with Rawle. [2] In 2014 O'Reilly and Rawle presented an award at the IFTA ceremony
Alongside Moone Boy co-star Rawle, O'Reilly presented a three-part special Docu-series, which documented the colourful history of The Late Late Toy Show , entitled “The Late Late Toy Show: Unwrapped”. It aired in November 2017 in the weeks leading up to The Late Late Toy Show .[2]
In 2017, O'Reilly made his feature film debut in Zoo , alongside Art Parkinson , Toby Jones , and Penelope Wilton . Also in 2018, he appeared in Metal Heart directed by Hugh O'Connor, and made a cameo in Damo & Ivor: The Movie.
