Ibrahim bin Durum

Ibrahim bin Durum is a Malaysian politician, who was born on the 29th of June, 1953 in the town of Kampung Baru Kuala Sungai Baru, Melaka, Malaysia. Completing his primary and secondary education in SK Othman Shawal, Kuala Sungai Baru, Melaka; and SM Gaafar Baba, Masjid Tanah, Melaka respectively, he went on to complete his Form 6 pre-university studies in Sekolah Alam Shah, Cheras, Selangor, before graduating with a Bachelor Of Science Education (HONS) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Starting off his career as a teacher in 1979, he has served in many respected institutions of learning, including SMK Mengatal (Matrikulasi UKM) Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; SM Gaafar Baba, Masjid Tanah, Melaka and Maktap Perguruan Temenggong Ibrahim, Johor Bahru (now known as Institut Pendidikan Guru – IPG).

He is married to Zunaidah Md Jani, and they have 7 children together.

Political Career[edit]

Ibrahim joined the United Malays National Organisation (Malay: Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Bersatu; Jawi: ڤرتوبوهن کبڠساءن ملايو برساتو, ) in the year 1979.

His Positions in UMNO throughout the years have included:

- Ketua Cawangan, Pemuda UMNO Kampung Baru, Kuala Sungai Baru

- Setiausaha Bahagian, Pemuda UMNO Bahagian Masjid Tanah

- Ketua Cawangan, UMNO Cawangan Kampung Baru, Kuala Sungai Baru

- Ketua Penerangan Bahagian, UMNO Bahagian Masjid Tanah

- Timbalan Ketua Bahagian, UMNO Bahagian Masjid Tanah

He was also elected as State Assembly Representative from 1990 - 2004  for N01 Kuala Linggi.

He is currently retired and lives back in his hometown in Kampung Baru, Kuala Sungai Baru to further serve the community there.

Malacca FA (MAFA) Career[edit]

He has also served as President of the Malacca Football Association (MAFA) for a period of 8 years from 1997-2005, before it was rebranded as the Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA) in 2013.

Honors[edit]

He has been awarded multiple awards, honors, and accolades for his years of service, which include a Datukship (DMSM) in the year 1996, a Jaksa Pendamai (JP) in 2004, and a Datuk Wiraship (DCSM) in 2020.
