Ifeanyi Onuba
Ifeanyichukwu Ezekiel Onuba (born 11 May 1977) is a Nigerian journalist and editor. He is the editor of The Whistler newspapers.[1]
Early life and education
Ifeanyi Onuba was born in Imo State, Nigeria, and attended Dodan Barracks Primary School, Ikoyi, Lagos, and Wahab Folawiyo High School, Ikoyi. He proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (Second Class Honours, Upper Division) in 2007.
Career
Onuba joined The Punch newspapers in December 2007 and rose to the position of Senior Business Correspondent. His work included supervising business, economy, and finance correspondents; editing news stories, features, and opinion articles; and covering major beats such as banking, commerce, industry, transport, maritime, agriculture, and environment. He also conducted exclusive interviews with business leaders and provided training for junior reporters.[2]
In June 2020, Onuba was appointed business editor at The Whistler Newspapers.[3] In December 2020, he was promoted to deputy editor, overseeing editorial planning, copy-editing, and content quality, as well as supervising correspondents in business, economy, and finance.
In August 2023, after a major restructuring of the newspaper, he was appointed editor of The Whistler Newspapers.[4]
He has participated in professional development programmes, including investigative journalism training for finance correspondents organised by ActionAid Nigeria in Abuja.[5]
