Igor Igorevich Larionov II is a (Russian: Игорь игоревич Ларионов; born August 24, 1998) is a Russian professional ice hockey player and son of former NHL star Igor Larionov. He has played as a forward for the Los Angeles Junior Kings, Honeybaked AAA, the Quebec Remparts, the Windsor Spitfires, the Muskegon Lumberjacks, the SKA-Neva St. Petersburg, and the HC Kunlun Red Star. Larionov is currently a free agent with the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Early Life
Larionov was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 24th, 1998 to parents Igor Larionov and Elena Batanova. Larionov moved from city to city as his father went to different NHL teams, but considers Detroit his hometown. He stated on the Triple Dekes Game Changer Podcast that, "... a lot of kids' activities after school were drawing, while I was going to Joe Louis Arena to watch my dad play."[1] Larionov also states that his biggest influences that he grew up around were Steve Yzerman, Brendan Shanahan, and Sergei Federov. He grew up mostly non-religious, but has had Christian influences in his life.
Personal Life
Larionov is fluent in both English and Russian. Growing up, he spoke mostly Russian at home and English at school and in public. Larionov has two sisters, Alyonka and Diana. His childhood best friend is Arthur Kaliyev[2]. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Larionov identifies as a liberal and is known for being outspoken on social media about political issues[3].
In 2021, Larionov featured a merchandise collection for LGBTQ+ pride on his online store, in which all of the profits he earned were donated to charity[4]. The design for this collection was created by a hockey fan and artist in the LGBTQ+ community. As of July 2021, Larionov has resources listed on his Linktree to provide viewers with information on many social movements, such as Black Lives Matter [1]
