Igor Rusakov
Igor Sergeevich Rusakov (Russian: Игорь Сергеевич Русаков; February 13, 1959 – July 23, 2003)
was a Soviet-Russian figure skating coach. Candidate of Master of Sports.
Life
Igor was born on February 13, 1959 in Chuguev, Ukrainian SSR of the USSR. He began to practice figure skating at the age of 5 (Oktyabr Stadium, Moscow). Then – the figure skating section of the Dynamo Central Stadium (Moscow). His coach was Gorbunova Galina Mikhailovna, Choreographer – Bom Natalya Sergeevna. He was educated as a coach and choreographer in the 1990s and worked independently as a coach at the Young Pioneers Stadium (Moscow). In 1999, I. Rusakov, for the first time in history, put Klimkin in a free program with two different jumps in four rotations.[citation needed] His students often jumped jumps in both directions.[citation needed] Skaters he trained were Svetlana Muravieva, Tatyana Rachkova, Alexander Chestnykh, Tatyana Plusheva, Julia Lebedeva, Daria Timoshenko, Ilya Klimkin, Vladimir Ganin, Vakhtang Murvanidze, Mikhail Myaskov.[citation needed]

Rusakov taught Klimkin [1] from 1991 until the end of his life (2003). Under the leadership of Rusakov, Ilya won the World Championship among juniors, was the winner of the Russian Championships behind Plushenko and Abt, repeatedly won at the stages of the World Grand Prix, took 2nd place in the Grand Prix final, again losing only to Plushenko, was fourth at the European Championship and ninth at the World Championship. Not long before his death, I. Rusakov handed over I. Klimkin to another well-known coach, Viktor Kudryavtsev. Kudryavtsev did not change the program set by Rusakov, with which Klimkin took third place at the European Championship in the 2003/2004 season. Rusakov was not just a coach for Ilya Klimkin, he was part of his family, especially after the death of Ilya's father in 1999.
