Early life and education
Israel was born to a Nigerian police officer and is a brother to six siblings. He is currently studying accounting at Prince Abubakar Abdul University (PAAU).
Activism
Ikani Israel is a member of different local and international organizations. His core focus includes youth empowerment, environment, climate change and issues surrounding the Sustainable Development Goals.
Ikani Israel and other environmental activists trained students from Government Secondary School (GSS) Nyanya-Gbagyi and Junior Secondary School (JSS) Nyanya-Gbagyi, in Nasarawa State, on sustainable methods for disposing of plastic waste as part of efforts to address the issue of plastic pollutants in Nigeria[1].
Ikani Israel became a team member of a group of activists from Africa called ECOCYKLE, covering the state of global plastic pollution today. Their written article was published by SUS Africa[2].
Awards and Nominations
Israel was recognized in 2021 for his YOUNGO Contributions in Nigeria 🇳🇬 towards climate change. He was nominated in the Energy and Sustainability category by the 25under25. Israel was recognized by Illuminem as one of young climate adaptation leaders in the world.
