Il Chyun Kwak (born 20 December 1955 in Seoul, South Korea) is a former principal of Seoul Digitech High School, and an academic administrator with a career background in environmental policy and management.[1]
Career[edit]
Kwak previously served as an officer of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.[1]
Kwak came to public attention as the only high school leader choosing the South Korean government-issued Korean history textbook as an additional option to two other privately-published Korean history textbooks that were already in use.[2][3] He also gave the Sixth Seoul Digitech High School Regular Concert on 6 December 2017 together with the Eighth United States Army Korea Band to address special appreciation for the United States Forces Korea.[4][5]
During Kwak's time as principal of Seoul Digitech High School, the school received a special recommendation from the Small and Medium Business Administration and was invited to the Blue House by the Moon Jae-in administration for consistently maintaining outstanding post-graduation employment rate of 77%.[1][6]
Kwak later became the dean of the School of Social Sciences at Gachon University.[7][8]
