Ilkin Mammadov[edit]

Ilkin Afqan oglu Mammadov (Azerbaijani: İlkin Əfqan oğlu Məmmədov, born 25 September 1981) is a political figure, Head of International Relations Department[1] of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan.

Biography[edit]

Ilkin Mammadov studied at Secondary School No. 6 in Baku from 1988 to 1998. From 1998 to 2004, he graduated from the Faculty of International Relations and International Law at Baku State University with an honors diploma. In 2000-2002, he studied French language at the Mark Bloch University in Strasbourg, France, and later studied international relations. In 2002, he gained professional experience as an intern in the administrative bodies of the Council of Europe.

Mammadov worked as a referent and attaché at the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 2003 to 2006. From 2006 to 2018, he served as the head of the Protocol sector of the International Relations Department of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan. From 2018 to 2020, he was the deputy head of the International Relations Department of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan and continued to serve as the head of the Protocol sector.[2] On May 1, 2020, he was appointed as the Head of the International Relations Department of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan by the order of the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova.[3]

Throughout the years, Mammadov organized the preparation and signing of various bilateral documents between the National Assembly and the parliaments of foreign countries.

Ilkin Mammadov is a 3rd degree state counselor.[4]

Awards[edit]

In 2015, on June 22, Ilkin Mammadov was awarded the "Distinction in Public Service" medal by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.[5]

In May 2016, he completed the course "New relations, administration, and citizens" at the Paris School of International Affairs and received a certificate.

In March 2017, he was awarded the "IPA CIS 25 years" medal by Valentina Matviyenko, the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, for his services in the development and strengthening of international relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.

In 2018, he served as the head of the organizing group at the National Assembly of Azerbaijan for the 100th anniversary of the National Assembly.

On July 9, 2019, he was awarded the Jubilee medal of 100th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Service Bodies of Azerbaijan.

On June 22, 2023, he was awarded The Taraggi Medal by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.[6]
