Im Na-yeon (born September 22, 1995), better known mononymously as Nayeon, is a South Korean singer. She is best known as the lead vocalist, oldest person, and center of the South Korean girl group Twice established by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen

Early life[edit]

Im Na-yeon was born in Seoul, South Korea on September 22, 1995. She is the oldest child in the family having a younger sister as a sibling. Due to an accident in her childhood, her left leg is a bit weaker than her right leg.[1].

Education[edit]

Im Na-yeon graduated from Apgujeong high school before she put off her university studies on hold to become a trainee. She is now attending Konkuk University and majoring in film studies while being an active member of Twice[2]

Career[edit]

2010-2015: Trainee Years[edit]

When Nayeon was young she entered a child model contest which eventually led to her being casted by JYP Entertainment. Unfortunately her mom would have none of it! She excelled in school but never quite forgot her dream of being a trainee. Then in 2010, when she was just about to go to a cram school to study extensively for university entrance exams [3], she sneaked out of her house to try out for an open audition hosted by JYP. Luckily she passed and when her parents eventually found out, they reluctantly allow her to pursued a trainee dream. She train for around 5 years before she was chosen to debut in JYP Entertainment's 6mix but the group never quite got out of the planning stage.[1]

2015–present: Twice[edit]

In 2015, JYP Entertainment came up with a big big plan. They open a reality TV show, Sixteen[4], to determined the members of their new girl group Twice. Nayeon finished in sixth place, and was the first member to be confirmed for the new girl group. Nayeon is arguably the face of Twice being a very cheerful individual and the loudest among other members.

Acting career[edit]

Not much acting, but she had made a cameo appearance on Dream High 2 (2012). She has appear on several commercials with top stars of South Korean entertainment industry like Teen Nature with Miss A's Bae Suzy or Clarks of Englang CF with the popular boy band Highlight otherwise known as BEAST.
