Imam University Zangipur (founded 2024) is the World's First International Open Online Shia University, Headquartered in ZANGIPUR. Founded by Syed Raza Imam Zangipuri. The Institution operates entirely online, offering free, personalized, and specialized programs in various disciplines related to Islamic and academic studies.

Governance of the University

The University operates under a bicameral governance framework, consisting of an executive authority and an advisory upper house, along with an independent media and communications wing.

Administrative Cabinet (Lower House)

The Administrative Cabinet of the University serves as the lower house and principal executive authority, responsible for the overall administration, governance, and implementation of all institutional decisions. It is the highest decision-making and executive body, and all actions of the University are carried out under its approval and authority. Currently, Syed Ali Imam Zangipuri serves as the Speaker of the House, while Syed Raza Imam Zangipuri serves as the Leader of the House and General Secretary of the Administrative Cabinet of the University. The office bearers of the Administrative Cabinet further include Syed Jawad Imam Rizvi Zangipuri as President of the Administrative Cabinet of the University, Syed Razi Imam Zangipuri as Deputy Secretary of the Administrative Cabinet of the University, and Syed Muzammil Imam Zangipuri as Assistant Secretary of the Administrative Cabinet of the University.The Administrative Cabinet includes members from several countries.

Imam Assembly Zangipur (Upper House)

The Imam Assembly Zangipur functions as a purely advisory upper house, providing guidance on religious, ethical, and community matters. It may review and suggest proposals; however, it does not hold executive or decision-making authority, and all final decisions and implementations rest exclusively with the Administrative Cabinet. Currently, Dr Syed Sher Ali Rizvi Zangipuri serves as the Speaker of the House, while Syed Raza Imam Zangipuri serves as the official spokesperson of the Assembly.

Imam Productions Zangipur

Imam Productions Zangipur is the official media and communications wing of the University, responsible for content creation, documentation, broadcasting, and institutional outreach. Founded by the Chancellor of University, Syed Raza Imam Zangipuri, Imam Productions Zangipur is administered by the Office of the Director of the University, Syed Jawad Imam Rizvi Zangipuri, and operates under the guidance and supervision of the Chancellor, serving as the central body for official media production and institutional communications.

Governance Principle

The Administrative Cabinet holds full executive authority, while the Imam Assembly serves in an advisory capacity only. All institutional execution is carried out under the Cabinet’s approval and direction.

Syed Razi Imam Rizvi Zangipuri serves as Assistant Director and Senior Executive Manager.

HISTORY

Imam University Zangipur was founded by Syed Raza Imam Zangipuri in 2024 with the goal of making Shia theological and academic education accessible to all people free of cost through an online platform.

It was established as an independent institution, not affiliated with any existing educational board or organization. Its foundation marked a historic step toward modernizing and internationalizing Shia education, while maintaining traditional values, heritage, and scholarship.

MISSION AND VISION

The mission of IMAM UNIVERSITY ZANGIPUR is to carry forward a legacy of faith and knowledge by providing free and open access to religious and academic education for learners around the world.

The university promotes inclusivity, offering courses in every language to reach students of diverse backgrounds. Its vision is to connect scholars and learners globally and to advance the understanding of Shia Islam in a modern academic context.

ACADEMICS

IMAM UNIVERSITY ZANGIPUR offers a wide range of personalized and specialized programs across many subjects, taught by international faculty members. All programs are conducted fully online and free of charge, and instruction is available in multiple languages.

RECOGNITION AND AFFILIATION

IMAM UNIVERSITY ZANGIPUR operates under its own independent board and is not affiliated with any government, seminary, or religious university system. As of 2025, no formal accreditation or external recognition has been publicly announced.
