Imperfect Pointes is an online sustainable balletwear shop, based in the UK.

Founded in 2020 by owner, Helen Banks, Imperfect Pointes specialises in premium balletwear designed and sustainably manufactured in the UK. Made entirely from regenerated plastics recovered from the ocean and landfill. All their packaging is compostable and they offer free lifetime repairs on all garments.[1] .

When Helen’s young daughter took up ballet, she was shocked at the amount of cheap leotards on the market, from brands based on a 'fast fashion' model. Having worked for a sportswear brand for the majority of her career, Helen knew all too well that most clothing ends up in landfill or floating around in our oceans. She felt guilty every time my daughter's ballet shoes or clothing needed replacing and struggled to find a replacement that was both stylish and sustainable. Instead of waiting for something to happen, she grabbed the situation by the scruff of the neck and started Imperfect Pointes.

All of their dancewear, excluding their world's first sustainable ballet tights[2] are designed and made ethically in the UK using a fantastic innovative material called ECONYL® yarn. This yarn is a 100% regenerated nylon fibre made from nylon waste otherwise polluting the Earth, like fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic recovered from all over the world. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to it's original purity making it identical to fossil-based nylon[3]
