Imperial Japanese Naval Engineering College

The Imperial Japanese Naval Engineering College (海軍機関学校 Kaigun Kikangakkō, Short form: 海機 Kaiki) was a naval school established to train engineer officers (機関科将校), Imperial Japanese Navy.
About

Before the Second World War, Maizuru was the location of the College.
In 1874, a Naval Academy Branch School (海軍兵学寮分校) was established in Yokosuka.
In 1878 it became the Engineering College, Naval Academy (海軍兵学校附属機関学校).
In 1881 it became the Naval Engineer School (海軍機関学校).
Abolished in 1887 (the 4th class of the Engineer College was transferred to the Naval Academy and became the 16th class of the Military Academy. Admiral Kenji Ide corresponds to this case).
Reinstalled in 1893.
In 1925, the school was relocated to Maizuru, Kyoto.
In November 1942, the officer system, which had previously divided officers into line officers (兵科) and engineer officers (機関科), was revised and the officers of the engineer officer corps were merged into 'officers', which was abolished in October 1944 and the school became the Naval Academy Maizuru Branch (海軍兵学校舞鶴分校). However, the name of the 'Engineer College' was amended and taken over by the existing Naval Engineering School (海軍工機学校) in Yokosuka and Onusu.
After the Second World War, the Maizuru Branch School was closed on 30 November 1945.
The college promoted research and education on all events related to mechanisms, including mechanical engineering, science and technology (gunpowder and fuel preparation techniques) and design, with a focus on engine engineering and maintenance techniques. The Engineering School, which was a school for engineering officers and provided training in coal casting and shipbuilding technology to junior officers, was closed between 1914 and 1928, and the 'Renshūka' (練習科) was established as a replacement for the Engineering School. The conventional training course for engineering officers was called the 'Seitoka' (生徒科). In addition to students who were to become officers in the future, the school also educated junior officers and non-commissioned officers as elective students.
