InVisions is a British heavy metal band from York, North Yorkshire. Founding members Ben Ville, Lucas Gabb and Alex Scott established InVisions in 2016. The band's full lineup comprises Ville, Gabb, Scott and drummer Josh Hardy. The band's metal style is predominantly a mix of metalcore, djent and deathcore.

History[edit]

2016-2018: formation and early years[edit]

The band initially formed in 2016, fronted by vocalist Ben Ville, alongside guitarists Lucas Gabb and Alex Scott. The three founding members recorded their debut single, Unbreakable, with procuders Sam & Joe Graves (Innersound Audio) before announcing the band with the release of this single.[1]

Shortly after the release, the band recruited drummer Josh Hardy, and began writing and recording their debut full-length record, Never Nothing (2017).[2] Never Nothing brought the band domestic recognition in the UK metalcore scene, helped by airtime on leading UK metal radio stations such as Kerrang. The band toured this record extensively throughout the UK, culminating in shows with the likes of Blessthefall and Glamour of the Kill as well as an appearance at UK Techfest[3] and a headline performance at Download Festival’s takeover stage in 2018.[4]

In 2018, the band released a follow-up single, Parasite.[5] This single sparked a much heavier musical direction and gained the band more recognition across Europe. This single also sparked a long running relationship with music video producers Life is Art.

2019-2020: Between You & Me[edit]

2019 saw the band sign to their first label, Stay Sick Recordings, which at the time was owned by Chris Fronzak, frontman of Attila.[6] The band's sophomore album, Between You And Me[7] (2019) took a heavier musical direction, with critics likening the new sound to Deathcore.[8] The band toured this record extensively in the UK and Europe, now being represented by Avocado Booking Agency.

Following the release of Between You & Me, InVisions released standalone single, Gold Blooded[9], in May 2020. This single brought much more attention and recognition to the band, gaining fans wordlwide.

2021-present: Deadlock[edit]

Third album, Deadlock[10] (2022), propelled the band to new heights within the metalcore scene. Despite ending their affiliation with Stay Sick Recordings, the band were able to self-release this record with the help of new manager Conor Ferris (Tandem Management).[11] Joining a roster which included other established acts such as August Burns Red and Silverstein. The success from this record enabled them to tour Europe with some of the most prominent acts in the scene including Ice Nine Kills and Spiritbox. As well as prestigious European festivals including Hellfest, Graspop and Jera on Air. For the first time, the band received radio airplay on prominent US radio stations like SiriusXM, gaining more attention in North America

The release cycle for Deadlock consisted of three singles/music videos prior to the release of the full record. The leading single, Annihilist, was released on 29th October 2021 alongside details of the album.[12] The second single, D V P E, was released on 3rd December 2021.[13] The final single from the pre-album release campaign was Deadlock, the title track from the album, released on 14th January 2022.[14] The album was released in full on 8th February 2022, to critical acclaim from music press outlets such as Kerrang and Rocksound.
