In The Steps of St. Paul (Book)
In The Steps of St. Paul is a travelogue book published in October 1936,[1] and written by Henry Vollam Morton. The book details Mortons journey from Jerusalem to Rome via Syria, Turkey and Greece and retraces the apostle's famed journey of faith through Israel, Greece, and Italy, using the Bible itself as a guide. The narrative follows the Mortons journeys in the 1930 describing much of the biblical site in these various countries but tying it back to the Biblical narrative. A large portion of the boo focuses on post Ottoman Turkey,[2] which at the time was largely unknown to European readers. The effect is one of reading two histories at once. As he recounts stories of the New Testament, he is also giving a contemporary account of a Mediterranean world that has today entirely vanished.
The book was widely distributed to school students through the British Commonwealth in the post World War 2 years.
