Introduction
Inayattullah was a writer, journalist, columnist. He wrote many books (almost a hundred). [1] Inayattullah used many names in his books, for example, Meam Alif, Ahmad Yar Khan, Waqas, Mehboob e Alam, Altamash, Sabir Hussain Rajpoot, Mehandi Khan, Ghumnam Aurat etc.
Inayattullah was born in Pakistan's province of Punjab in 1920. He belongs to a Rajpoot (caste) family. Inayattullah passed his Matric (10th class) exams in 1936. After passing the Matric, he joined the army. He also fought in World War 2. In 1944, Inayattullah was captured by the Japanese Army and they put him in prison.[2]
But in rainy days Inayattullah ran from the prison. He spent one and a half years in jungles, deserts, and near the rivers. Those days were very difficult for him. But soon he met with his Army (Indian Army). After joining the army again, he and his fellows were sent to Malaya, where Indonesia and Malaysia were fighting for freedom.
Inayattullah left the army and he fought for the freedom of Malaya (because Malaya's people were Muslims).
After one and a half years, Malaya was free. And on the other hand, Pakistan was also free. So Inayattullah came back to his motherland after 9 years and joined the Pakistan Air Force in 1948, when he was 28 years old. Inayattullah was one of the commandos who saluted the Quaid-e-Azam (founder of Pakistan) in Peshawar. After some time Inayattullah also left the Air Force and joined "Sayyara Digest" and became the editor here soon. He was known as a simple novelist in those days. But he wrote some books for their Army in 1965 (Pak India battle for Kashmir); these books motivated the Pak Army. Inayattullah got fame with these books. He also went to the battlefield to collect information about the Pak Army to write something about the martyrs of the nation. He left Sayyara Digest because of some discordance and he made "Mahnama Hakkayat". He worked very hard, he wrote 18 hours a day for Mahnama Hakkayat, so these efforts made the Mahnama Hakkat first very famous magazine.[3].
Inayattullah used different names for different types of books; for example, for Historical Novels he used Inayattullah, Altamash and Waqas as his name. For domestic stories and for novels he used Inayattullah, Mehandi Khan and Ghumnam Aurat as his name. For detective stories he used Ahmad Yar Khan as his name and he used Sabir Hussain Rajpoot as his writer's name.
