The Independent Church of India (ICI) is an indigenous, evangelical Protestant Christian denomination headquartered in Sielmat, Churachandpur, Manipur, India.[1] It operates primarily among the tribal communities of Northeast India, with a concentrated presence among the Hmar people across the states of Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura. Founded in 1951 by local Christian leaders transitioning away from foreign mission administrative structures, the ICI is structured under a Presbyterian polity and functions entirely as a self-supporting, indigenous ecclesiastical institution.[2][3]
