Independent candidates in the 2019 Canadian federal election
This is a list of the candidates that ran as Independents, or otherwise without affiliation, in the 43rd Canadian federal election. Two incumbent Independent MPs were seeking re-election, Jody Wilson-Raybould (Vancouver Granville) and Jane Philpott (Markham—Stouffville). Both had previously been elected as Liberals and served in the cabinet of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau before resigning in protest over Trudeau's handling of the SNC-Lavalin affair. Wilson-Raybould was re-elected, the first elected Independent MP since 2008.[1]
