IndiaOne Air Flight 102 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight that made a forced landing near Rourkela, in the Indian state of Odisha, on 10 January 2026. The aircraft involved was a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan operated by IndiaOne Air. The flight was operating from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. All six people on board survived and were taken to hospital for treatment. The incident was investigated by Indian aviation authorities.[1]
Background
IndiaOne Air is a regional airline based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The airline operates short-haul passenger services under India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) regional connectivity scheme. Its fleet primarily consists of Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft, which are commonly used for commuter routes connecting smaller cities and towns.[2]
Aircraft and flight
The aircraft involved was a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, registered in India and configured for regional passenger service.
On 10 January 2026, it departed Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, at approximately 12:25 pm IST. The flight was carrying two pilots and four passengers.[3]
Incident
While approaching Rourkela Airport, the flight crew reported a technical problem to air traffic control. At around 1:14 pm IST, the pilots issued a mayday call indicating an in-flight emergency. Shortly afterwards, the aircraft made a forced landing in an open field in Sundargarh district, approximately 10–20 kilometres from the airport.[4]
Officials stated that the pilots were able to maintain control of the aircraft during the descent, limiting damage on impact. The aircraft sustained damage to the nose section and landing gear. Local residents and emergency services assisted in evacuating the occupants.[5]
Casualties
All six occupants were injured and transported to hospitals in Rourkela for treatment. Authorities reported that the injuries ranged from minor to serious but were not life-threatening. Two passengers were later airlifted to another city for further medical care, while the remaining occupants continued treatment locally and were reported to be in stable condition.[6]
Investigation
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau initiated a formal investigation into the incident. Investigation teams visited the landing site to inspect the aircraft, collect evidence, and record statements. Preliminary comments from state officials suggested a possible technical malfunction, but no official cause had been confirmed at the time of reporting.[7]
Aftermath
The aircraft was secured at the landing site pending recovery and investigation. IndiaOne Air stated that it was cooperating fully with aviation authorities. Officials confirmed that normal flight operations at Rourkela Airport were not disrupted following the incident.[8]
