Indian Asthma Care Society was established on 21 May 1985 with the objectives to launch a campaign against tobacco and help asthmatic patients. The society's Public interest litigation in Rajasthan High Court and Supreme Court of India leads to making of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003.

The Indian Asthma Care Society was established on 21 May 1985 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The founder members of the society are Dr. Virendra Singh, Mr. Dharamveer Ketewa, Dr. Nirmal Jain, Dr. US Mathur and Mrs. Sheema Dullar.

Society's Public Interest Litigation[edit]

Indian Asthma Care Society has been active for tobacco control in India since inception. In 2003, Indian Asthma Care Society filed PIL in the Rajasthan High Court against the pollution caused by the plastic sachets used in packaging products like gutkha and pan masala. In 2007 Rajasthan High Courtcourt in 2007 prohibited all gutkha manufacturers in the state from using plastic packaging.[as per Down to earth]
