Proudly showcasing the best of the independent arts & entertainment scene.
Indie Light has been through several iterations before arriving at it's current form, back in mid-2017 our editor-in-chief, Freelancer Tom, was working on developing a portfolio of his various journalistic efforts, this portfolio began to attract attention, with people reading, commenting and sharing the articles, reviews and interviews. Deciding to do something with this attention and audience, our editor decided to flesh it out, and let it become a platform in it's own right.
The next stage of development lasted for over five years, as 'Off the Record', the name for this new platform, we produced a variety of content, starting with music journalism; before adding on a variety of arts & entertainment content including book blogging and gaming journalism. After a couple of years we added on other topics like covering the wide topic of Food & Drink; so Food Reviews, Restaurant Reviews and other similar items. It was also during this time that the contributor base and audience expanded. This growth, experimentation, and development lasted until late 2023 when we entered this next stage of development.
When our editor was renewing our domain for another year, they took a look at all the progress we'd made as 'Off the Record' and what we really wanted to do with the platform, and so with the site domain renewal, we were offered an opportunity to rebrand, and refocus, cutting down content to better do what we initially set out to do. So we became 'Indie Light', a platform focused on showcasing the best of the independent arts & entertainment scene.
So that's where we are today, producing a variety of arts & entertainment journalism, spotlighting and promoting creators and providing honest and engaging content.
