Indus Creations

Indus Creations is a Media Performance/Arts Group based out of Seattle,WA. The name INDUS was a wordplay on the words "INDia" and "USa." Launched by a group of young tech professionals from companies like Microsoft, Google, Facebook, or Amazon, Indus set out to create original content in the Tamil language in the form of stage plays, short films, and most recently, Vellaipookal, a globally launched full-length feature film.[1]

Early Success[edit]

The Indus group started putting on stage plays in the Seattle area in 2006. Group members owned every piece of the production process - from story to direction, casting to sets, and staging. Some of their notable productions included Aranmanai Siruvayalil (2006), Kadavul Vandhirundhar (2007), Ragasiya Snehidiyae (2008), London Express (2009), Iru Lives Oru Story (2010), Chakravyugam (2011), Ulle Veliye (2012), Ninaithale Nadakum (2014), Chidambara Ragasiyam (2015), Chevva Dhosham (2017), Odam (2018), Narivettai (2018) and most recently, Navam (2018).

Short Films[edit]

In 2015, Indus graduated from short plays to short films. Odam and Navam both won many awards at the International Film Festival.

Vellaipookal[edit]

In 2018, Indus Creations released their first full-length film (in Tamil), Vellaipookal. [[Vellaipookal] was released in Seattle on April 12th, and Worldwide on April 19th. Since then, Vellaipookal has been well-received by critics and audiences alike. Times of India critics gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5, praising the casting of Vivek (actor). India Glitz and Sify gave similarly positive reviews.
