Infinity Kingdom is a freemium cartoon mobile strategy video game developed and published by Shanghai-based developer Yoozoo Games. The game was released on January 27, 2021, for both iOS and Android. The Android version was released on Google Play, Huawei Appgallery, and Samsung Galaxy Store. An APK is also available on the Infinity Kingdom website. A PC version was released on Steam and GTArcade on July 2, 2021. The game is currently available in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Thai, and Vietnamese. For the future, Korean, Japanese, and Arabic translations are planned.
In the game, a player becomes Lord to a city that is under attack by Gnome Armies[3]. The player is tasked with rebuilding the city and ultimately protecting the World Heart.
Gameplay
Infinity Kingdom is an online multiplayer video game where players develop their city in various ways. These developments all require resources, of which there are several. The basic resources are used to train troops, build and upgrade buildings, and develop technologies. These resources are food, wood, stone, and iron. They can be obtained by attacking other players, completing in-game tasks, gathering them on the world map, or producing and collecting them. Another resource (gold) can also be obtained through production or by defeating enemies in a bi-daily event called "Mysterium". The game's premium resources are called Gems.
When starting the game, a player is given a choice to join one of three Kingdoms: Ruslan, Ydvia, and Vitas[4]. The choice of Kingdom affects certain events and will also permanently grant the player a 5% Hitpoints boost to a single troop type. Cavalry for Ruslan, spearmen for Ydvia, and shieldmen for Vitas.
Buildings
To progress through the game, players will have to build and upgrade buildings. Which buildings can be built, and to what level they can be upgraded is determined by a player's Castle level. This is the main building of the city, and at the early stages offers access to new features by upgrading it.
Resource buildings for food, wood, stone, and iron will unlock in sets of two, with 8 of these buildings being the maximum amount. They will unlock at Castle 1 (farm), 2 (lumber mill), 3 (quarry), and 4 (smeltery). At that level, players will also unlock the Harbor, where a player can send an exploration team to obtain shards for Immortals and soul crystals. Then at Castle 5, the Dragon Cave will unlock. This is a building that will allow the player to hatch, train and develop their dragons. Completing the quests at this point will also unlock the water dragon: Glyndwr.
One of the most important buildings is the Academy, where a player researches new technologies. This will unlock at Castle level 6. Following that, at Castle 7 both the market and alchemy lab will be unlocked. A market is a place where players can buy items with up to a 40% discount, as well as shards to upgrade immortals. The alchemy lab is used to resurrect or dismantle immortals and equipment. After unlocking Castle 8, players can build a treasury. This is the building where dragon chests - obtained by defeating bosses - can be 'purified'.
Another resource building will unlock at Castle 9 and is called the dwelling. It passively produces gold for a player to collect and can be built up to a maximum of 6 times. Following at Castle 10 is the wishing fountain. This building allows you to pray to the Goddesses in exchange for resource rewards. The number of times you're allowed to pray increases with its level.
The final set of buildings unlocked start at Castle 11, where a player will unlock the arena. The arena is a building where players compete in player versus player combat, in an asynchronous setting. The second to last building to unlock is called the tower of knowledge at Castle 12. This building is where players can purchase and upgrade skills. These skills can then be equipped for their immortals. Finally, Castle 15 unlocks the forge, where players can craft artifacts for their immortals and convert food, wood, stone, or iron to gold.
Some of the aforementioned buildings can be upgraded. Upgrading a building will allow it to perform more efficiently. For example, every increase of the academy level will give a .5% boost to research and every increase of a resource building will make it produce more hourly resources.
Research
Research in this game is done at the academy, which unlocks at Castle level 6. There are 4 different categories of research: production, troops, immortals, and defense. Almost all technologies can be developed 10 times, with the exceptions being limited to the troop category, which was changed in patch 1.2 of the game.[5]
The first tree, production focuses on increasing the player's ability to develop their city. The first researches grant bonuses to building speed, resource production, and also boost the number of resources that can be stored in a resource building. Following that, research will be able to increase resource gathering speed, technology research, and the amount of resources troops can carry. Next in the production tree, technologies are available that increase warehouse production and the resources it protects. The final technology increases the relocation speed of a player's city.
A second category, researching technologies in the troops' category will increase the power of the player's army. Increased attack, defense, and special attacks are the first unlocked technologies. Further research will unlock extra damage to castles and cities, better defensive stats, more hitpoints, and a reduction in stamina consumption when sending out troops. Final research in this tree will allow a player to recruit and heal troops faster as well as granting troops an ability that randomly activates.
The third category of research focuses on improving immortals. It starts by granting additional experience, magical, and physical attack bonuses to immortals. The following research will decrease gold consumption for boosting immortals, increased physical defense, and increased magical defense. Then research will unlock which increases immortals' initial energy, and the final 4 kinds of research will increase accuracy rate, dodge rate, crit rate, and resilience rate.
The final category focuses on defense, making it easier for players to defend their city from attacks by other players. The first research increases wall durability, fortification attack damage, the number of fortifications released, as well as the second tier of fortifications. After this, players can research faster fortification manufacturing speed, increased wall defense, and the third tier of fortifications. Following those researches, single fortification manufacturing amounts can be increased, so can fortification manufacturing speed, and the fourth tier of fortifications. To conclude, wall durability loss and garrison damage can be reduced via research as well as the final (fifth) tier of fortifications.
Troops and Army
In Infinity Kingdom, players will have to fight other players. To effectively do so, they will need to use armies, referred to in-game as troops. Troops have 5 slots; 4 are reserved for immortals and 1 for a dragon. The immortals are divided into frontline and backline types, Players can only have 2 frontline and 2 backline immortals in every troop. They make up the majority of a player's power.[6] Finally, each troop also has a slot for a dragon.
Dragons and immortals all have an element and combining the same element will give bonuses, these bonuses are the same for all elements. There are 7 different elements in the game: earth, fire, holy, lightning, shadow, water, and wind. The elements all have an element they're weak against and an element they're strong against, with the exception being shadow and holy. Shadow is strong against all elements except holy, and holy only has a bonus against shadow, but no weaknesses[7].
Immortals and troops appear in different tiers. Immortals can go up in rarity and power from the lowest, uncommon, to rare, elite, and then epic. Troops progress from tier 1 to tier 5. Each increase in rarity or tier will also significantly increase a player's power. At castle level 12, players will unlock the tower of knowledge. This building unlocks skills, which can be equipped to immortals in order to make them more versatile and increase their power.
