InfoStreet, is a privately held, U.S.-based SaaS (Software as a Service) and cloud service provider specializing in small business software available on a subscription basis. InfoStreet develops, serves, and supports several cloud-based products: SkyDesktop, StreetSmart, SkyAppMarket and SkySingleSignOn (SkySSO).[1]

History[edit]

InfoStreet was founded in 1994 by its current CEO, Siamak Farah, as an internet-based consulting company offering productivity software services.[2][3] InfoStreet also offered graphic design, website development, back-end programming, hosting, and other Web application services for larger corporations.

In late 1995, InfoStreet launched InstantWeb, a product that allowed clients to create websites online or by using FTP to upload and modify pages. InstantWeb also supported CGI for forms, guest books, and other applications.[4]

By 1999, InfoStreet released the first generation of StreetSmart office productivity software.[5]

In April 2011, the company's newest products SkyDesktop and SkyAppMarket were previewed at the SaaSUniversity Conference in Denver CO.[6][7] The official SkyDesktop launch was in November 2012. Since that time, the company has added several third-party applications to its SkyAppMarket, including Kashoo, Soonr, and Google Apps for Business.[8]

Products[edit]

InfoStreet has 4 main products: StreetSmart, SkyDesktop, SkyAppMarket, and SkySSO. All four products are compatible with Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.[9][10]

StreetSmart[edit]

StreetSmart is a suite of Web-based collaboration applications which uses asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) interface.[11] The software consists of virus- and spam-protected email, email archiving, user administration, employee directory, address book, calendar, tasks workflow, CRM, file sharing, knowledge base, mailing list, dashboards, and conference calling tools.[12][13]

SkyDesktop[edit]

InfoStreet's free cross-platform Web desktop is a desktop environment powered by cloud computing that hosts third-party applications designed to handle file management, accounting, collaborative tools, and integration of the client’s applications and files.[14][15] Applications, servers, and data storage are integrated in a cloud desktop interface in a manner that resembles a traditional desktop environment.[16] Several free apps are included with SkyDesktop.[17]

SkyAppMarket[edit]

SkyAppMarket is a patent-pending, one-click provisioning software for use in accessing cloud-based computer applications. The SkyAppMarket apps are provisioned and launched from within the company's SkyDesktop.[18][19]

SkySingleSignOn (SkySSO)[edit]

SkySingleSignOn is a federated single sign-on technology incorporating OpenID, SAML, and oAuth technology. This software is offered as a standalone product used in providing single sign-on access for multiple independent third-party software systems. SkySSO is also utilized by SkyDesktop and SkyAppMarket for single sign-on.[20][21]

Special Recognition[edit]

The company was recognized by PC/Computing as the “Best of the Top Home Page Services” in August 1996.[22][23] InfoStreet was also named one of the nation’s 500 fastest growing private companies by Inc. Magazine in 2001.[24][25] Deloitte Touche named InfoStreet to the Los Angeles Technology Fast 50 in both 2002 and 2003.[26][27][28]
