Inspired (Schools Group)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

[1]

Inspired is a co-educational, non-denominational schools group, with more than 42 000 students across an international network of over 42 schools.[2] on 5 continents[3]

History[edit]

Inspired was founded by Nadim M Nsouli in 2013[1], when the group acquired Reddam House in South Africa[4]. Since its founding, Reddam House has acquired and built 9 schools in South Africa, along with the group's flagship school, Reddam House Berkshire, in Wokingham, England. The school grounds in Wokingham were taken over from Bearwood College, in 2015[4]. Bracknell News reports that Bearwood College had been "a school... struggling to escape special measures" before being taken over by Reddam House, who "managed to turn the school around in just one term and was rated 'excellent' in five out of eight categories judged by the inspectorate".

Well known schools in other European countries that form part of the Inspired group include St. George's International School in Switzerland[5], St. John's International School in Belgium[6], St. Louis School in Italy[7] and Sotogrande International School in Spain[8]. In the Middle East, the group has acquired British School of Bahrain[9]. Inspired's Latin American schools include Blue Valley School in Costa Rica[10], Colegeo San Mateo in Colombia[11], and Cambridge College Lima in Peru.

The group’s strategy has been described as a "buy and build strategy"[1], involving the purchase of existing schools, as well as the building of new schools.

Leadership[edit]

Inspired has offices in London, Johannesburg, Bogota, Dubai, Milan and Sydney.

The Founder, CEO and Chairman of Inspired, Nadim Nsouli[12], has led the group since its founding in 2013. Nsouli has worked as a lawyer at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue in New York and as an investment banker at both JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. He was then appointed as Head of The Gores Group in London, a special situations private equity fund based in Los Angeles. Nsouli later became a Managing Director at Providence Equity Partners[1], before founding Inspired in 2013[13]

Inspired’s President is Graeme Crawford[14], a South African educator and founder of Reddam House[15]. Crawford initially founded Crawford College in Johannesburg in 1993. In ensuing years, Crawford Schools grew to 6 in total. In 2000, he founded Reddam House. Reddam House became part of Inspired in 2013.

Dr Stephen Spurr[16] is the Group Education Director of Inspired. He was the Head Master of Westminster School in London from 2004 to 2015[17]. He was appointed as a teacher at Eton College in 1984, where he became head of classics and House Master, a position he held until 2000. Spurr spent five years as Headmaster of Clifton College (2000-2005), where he was the head of the Senior School, Preparatory School and Pre-Preparatory School. Dr Spurr joined Inspired in September 2014.
