The "Institute for Integrated Cell-Materials Sciences" (Japanese: 物質-細胞統合システム拠点, iCeMS) is an international research institute operating at Kyoto University. Its mission is to foster new scientific fields between cell biology and materials science. Scientists at the institute are from a wide range of scientific fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc. iCeMS was founded in 2007 as part of the World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) launched by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.[1][2]
