THE INSTITUTE OF FINANCE MANAGEMENT (IFM)
The Institute of Finance Management (IFM)www.ifm.ac.tz was established by Act No. 3 of 1972[1] as corporate body with the following objectives:
- To provide facilities for the study and training in principles, procedures and techniques of Banking, Insurance, Finance Management and such other related subjects as the Council may from time to time decide.
- To conduct training programmes leading to professional qualifications in Banking, Insurance, Finance Management and other related subjects.
- To conduct examinations and grant Diplomas, Certificates and other awards of the Institute.
- To sponsor, arrange and provide facilities for conference and seminars.
- To arrange for the publication and general dissemination of materials produced in connection with the work and activities of the Institute.
Vision
To become a world class centre of academic and professional excellence and agent for change in financial studies and related disciplines.
Mission statement
To provide dynamic and quality academic and professional training that nurture creativity and innovation through integrated training, research and consultancy in financial studies and related disciplines.
Core Values
The IFM staff will adhere to a code of ethics which promotes the best professional practices and exercise academic freedom. They will promote a culture that is guided by six core values – customer focus, accountability, teamwork, integrity, competence and excellence in all endeavours of the Institute.

Faculties
The Institute has four academic faculties which are,
- Faculty of Accounting, Banking and Finance [2](FABF)
- Faculty of Computing, Information System and Mathematics [3](FCIM)
- Faculty of Insurance and Social Protection [4](FISP)
- Faculty of Economics and Management Science [5](FEMS)
Programmes
IFM provides academic programmes which include; master degrees, postgraduate diploma, bachelor degrees, ordinary diploma,and certificate programmes. The programmes are offered on both full time and part time basis. The philosophy behind these programmes is geared towards producing competent, responsible and creative graduates with all the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to deal with matters relating to accountancy, banking, computer science, information technology, taxation, economics, insurance and risk management, actuarial sciences, and social protection. Under each programme, a practical training is provided to students as an essential part of their studies. This allows students in mastery of knowledge by direct observation and develop their practical skills in the area of their specializations.
Campuses
IFM has three campuses located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Dodoma.
Dar es Salaam Campus
This is the Main campus which was set up in 1972. It stands as the oldest higher learning financial institution in Tanzania, located in Dar es Salaam City Centre, Shaaban Robert Street, opposite the National Museum.
Mwanza Campus
IFM Mwanza Teaching Centre (IFM-MTC) was established in 2013. The Campus is located in Mwanza City, Rock City Mall
Dodoma Campus IFM Dodoma Teaching Centre (IFM-DTC) was established in 2018. The Campus is located in Dodoma, Tanzania. Current only one 18 months program is being provided in this campus which is Masters of Science in Finance & Investment.
