The Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Scientific Computing (IMECC) (Portuguese : Instituto de Matemática, Estatística e Computação Científica) is the unit of education and research in Mathematics at the University of Campinas.

Education[edit]

The institute is responsible for teaching all the Mathematics and Statistics disciplines for all students of Unicamp. It also offers programs in the area of Mathematics for undergraduate and graduate students. IMECC has also built a strong reputation of its programs in Brazil : CAPES rated the institute's Master's and Ph.D. programs in Mathematics with the highest possible score.[1]

BIMECC[edit]

The institute has its own library (BIMECC) that is integrated with Unicamp's library system (SBU). It is located underground the building and its size is of 796 square meters. BIMECC's is one the biggest Mathematics library in Brazil, with more than 50,000 books and 3,000 theses and dissertations in its collection.[2]
