The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) is an annual competition for high school students and one of the International Science Olympiads. The first edition of IOAI is scheduled to be held in August 2024 in Burgas, Bulgaria.[1] The Olympiad is a team competition, where each participating country sends up to two teams composed of four students and a team leader.

Competition structure[edit]

The competition includes two rounds: A Scientific round and a Practical round. In the Scientific round, participating teams are given problems that mimic real-world scientific research in advance of the Olympiad. They must submit their solutions in the form of working code and model outputs. In the Practical round which is on-site, students must design and perform experiments and to draw conclusions about the capabilities and limitations of existing AI solutions.[2]
