The International Socioeconomics Laboratory (ISL) is a non-profit think tank based in New York City, that carries out policy based socio-economic research. The ISL is a non-partisan think tank that “meeting the increasing demand for non-partisan empirical information on international issues that have many gaps to fill when analyzing crucial existing data" [1] . The ISL has a sister organization, the Finxerunt Policy Institute, which is a 501(c)(4) organization for policy and advocacy.

Programs and Events[edit]

The Laboratory has experts and scholars focused on various regions of the world and on topics with human impact. The subjects include: Communities, Health, Education, and Equality.

It undertakes numerous programs and projects each with its own missions and interests. One of example is the work done with initiatives at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health [2].The ISL and Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health have worked on Eating Disorder research and policy and it has been recognized by the New York Times [3] . The Institute has also worked with Cristina Garcia by co-sponsoring the Califrnia legislation AB 1341[4]. The Institute has been recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for providing research. .

The International Socioeconomics Laboratory has provided a platform and service for politicians ranging from local to the presidency to obtain research. An example is the institute's working paper on President Joe Biden's $1.7 trillion infrastructure. In the international aspect the ISL has provided research to multiple governments in Africa and South Asia. The ISL has also helped create critical research in expanding healthcare access in New York City. [5] [6]

Every season, the Institute hosts their fellowship program for high school students all the way to doctoral research in effort to promote socioeconomics. They have impacted and has had millions of impressions all around the world.

Publications[edit]

The Laboratory regularly publishes journals, reports, newsletters, commentaries, and research articles that are targeted at students who are interested in socioeconomic research or members of government interested in making change. The Finxerunt Policy Institute uses the research articles that the ISL produces and pushes policy using them.

It publishes a research journal, Across the Spectrum of Socioeconomics. that “ aims to bridge the prevalent issues between economics and social science. Students from around the world come together to conduct research and produce non-partisan conclusions.” [7] It is currently a free and open access journal e.
