IUM is an international union for makeup and hair stylist education [2]. It was based in Sweden, Stockholm in 2017[3]. Approving education of the leading schools, beauty companies, colleges, and other professional institutions in the aesthetics industry, the IUM provides opportunities for them to become a part of a membership. The main purpose of the union is to define the professional standards in the industry in order to assure that the members of the IUM represent the highest quality service in the makeup artist and hair stylist education[4].

The members of the union have been acknowledged by honor organizations dedicated to the arts and the diploma of the IUM is recognized worldwide[5]

The Vision of the Union[edit]

The International Union for makeup and hairstylist education focuses on the following:

Also, the participants take part in the annual meeting of the professionals in the industry and receive all invitations to courses and lectures, which are developed for the members of the community[6].

IUM Approved Members[edit]

In order the educational centers, schools or academies will be approved with the IUM, it is necessary to follow the requirements of the IUM. First of all, the school should maintain education for at least 300 hours. Secondly, it is forbidden to be a part of other unions. In addition, students have to demonstrate not only the high-quality professional skills but also to be involved in the art of marketing itself. Being an approved member of the International Union for Makeup and Hair Stylist Education authenticates the position of the company as a world leading professional in the aesthetics industry[7].Make Up Institute Stockholm, Sweden was the first international makeup artist and hairstylist school to be approved and internationally certified by the IUM in 2017. Now there are more than 20 schools worldwide which are approved by the IUM.
