International knifetropolis
International knifetropolis[1] (Chinese: 國際大刀會; Jyutping: gwok3jai3daai6dou1wui6; literally: 'international knife city') is an internet slang of Hong Kong. The term was adapted from the Hong Kong brand "Asia's World City", which has the same pronunciation in Cantonese[note 1], to satirize the government's propaganda that Hong Kong has entered a stage of "from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity" (Chinese: 由亂到治,由治及興) after the implementation of the National Security Law in Hong Kong.[2] But in fact, there has been a sharp increase in gang vendettas, stabbings and homicides in the city. Based on the number of stabbing cases in the 18 districts, the top three are Yuen Long District, Yau Tsim Mong District, and North District. There is a record that more than one stabbing case occurred within three days, causing more people to worry about the safety situation in the city.[3][4]
