Die Internationale Arbeitsgemeinschaft Donauforschung, oder IAD, ist die älteste Internationale Nichtregierungsorganisation (NGO) eines aktiven Netzwerkes von Wissenschaftlern im Donauraum in Europa.[1]

Organisation[edit]
Der Vorstand der IAD setzt sich aus dem Präsidenten, Vizepräsident und Generalsekretär [2] zusammen. Sie bilden gemeinsam mit derzeit 12 Landesvertreter das Präsidium der IAD. Seit 2017 ist Cristina Sandu die Präsidentin und Thomas Hein[3] from BOKU Wien and Wassercluster Lunz der Vizepräsident. Seit 2018 ist Katrin Teubner (PD) von der Universität Wien gewählte Generalsekretärin. Die Namen der Ländervertreter und der Expertengruppenleiter sind auf der Homepage der IAD gezeigt.[2]
Die IAD besteht im weiteren aus einer Gruppe von Experten, die schwerpunktmäßig 12 Themen in der Ökologie und dem Ökosystemmanagement im Donauraum bearbeiten: Wasserqualität, biotische Prozesse, Mikrobiologie, Phytoplankton und Phytobenthos, Wasserpflanzen, Auenwaldökologie, LTSER und Umwelthistorie, Fischbiologie und Fischerei, Einwanderung von fremden Tier- und Pflanzenarten, Ökotoxikologie, Donaudeltastrukturen und nachhaltige Entwicklung sowie Öffentlichkeitsbeteiligung.[2][4]
Seit 1998, hat die IAD einen permanenten Beobachterstatus bei der Internationalen Kommission zum Schutz der Donau (heute genannt ‚’’’International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River – ICPDR’’’). Die IAD-Mitglieder sind in den folgenden ICPDR-Expertengruppen aktiv:[5]
- Expertengruppe für Flussgebietsmanagement
- Expertengruppe für Hochwasserschutz
- Wasserkraft-Expertengruppe
- Expertengruppe zur Anpassung an den Klimawandel
- Expertengruppe "Öffentlichkeitsbeteiligung".
