Irene Kyza is a researcher in Applied and Computational Mathematics and a Lecturer in Computational Mathematics at the University of Dundee.
Education and career[edit]
Kyza received her Ph.D in Applied & Computational Mathematics from the University of Crete in 2009. Her dissertation, Posteriori Error Estimates for Approximations of Semilinear Parabolic and Schroedinger Type Equations, was supervised by Charalambos G. Makridakis.[1] She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA (2009–2011) and a postdoctoral fellow at the Foundation for Research & Technology – Hellas (FORTH) (2012–2013). In 2011, she was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cyprus. As a postdoctoral fellow at FORTH, she was the principal researcher of the project "BIONUM", which was co-funded by the European Union and the Greek State.[2] Her research has also been funded by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.[3]
Awards and honors[edit]
Kyza was awarded the Emmy Noether Fellowship in 2020.[4]
