Irina Olegovna Abramova (Russian: Ирина Олеговна Абрамова; born 16 September 1962) is an economist, a Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a Doctor of Economic sciences, the Director of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Born on September 16, 1962.
In 1984, Irina Abramova graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Studies of the Moscow State University. Her specialization was Arab countries and their social and economic development.[1]
In 1987 post graduate course at the Institute for African Studies she got her PHD in International Economics. The title of her PhD dissertation was “Social and Economic Problems of Urbanization in Egypt”.[1]
In 1994 – 1997 Prof. D.Sc. Abramova gave lectures at Universities of Tuebingen, Bochum, Heidelberg (Germany) and University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).[2]
In 2011 she successfully defended her D.Sc. (habilitation) in International Economics with thesis “Africa’s Resource Potential in the World Economy of the 21st Century”.
In 2015, Prof. D.Sc. Abramova was appointed Director of the Institute for African Studies, Department for Global Problems and International Relations, Russian Academy of Sciences.[3]
In 2016 she was elected a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences from the Department for Global Problems and International Relations.
In 2017 Irina Abramova was elected a Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences (permanent collegial executive body of the Academy), becoming the only female Member.[4]
