Isabela Boscov is a Brazilian internet celebrity and film critic.[1] She has a blog and a YouTube channel, managed by the producer Whoopsy Daisy, in which publishes reviews and interviews, in addition to a column in Veja magazine.[2]
Career[edit]
Boscov graduated in Radio and TV from the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA-USP). She began her career at Jornal da Tarde. The film critic also worked at Folha de São Paulo and as editor-in-chief at SET magazine, where she remained until 1999, when she joined Veja, where she was executive editor and responsible for the cinema area, until 2015. In the same year, she started a YouTube channel founded with designer Guiherme Gouveia and producer Whoopsy Daisy, where she publishes reviews and interviews, in addition to continuing her collaboration with Veja.[2]
Throughout her career, Boscov has personally interviewed film celebrities such as Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Mickey Rourke, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Roth, Clint Eastwood, George Lucas and others.[3] In 2021, the way she presents her reviews gained repercussions on social networks, with the creation of memes made by users, in addition to "Acervo Boscov", a Twitter profile that reproduces excerpts from her reviews.[4] This led, in April 2022, to Boscov's participation in an Avon advertisement, in which some of the lines that became memes from her reviews published on YouTube were used. [5] On June 5, 2022, Boscov commented on a interview that the predominant age group of the public who watched her videos on YouTube was over 30 years old, and after the repercussion of the memes, there was an increase in the audience of 14–25 years old.[6]
