Isabelle "Izzy" Szczerbinski (born 2005), also known as Baoling (宝玲),[1] is a child prodigy and actress from Midlothian, Virginia.
Biography
Szczerbinski's interest in Chinese culture began at the age of 5 when she attempted to speak to a Chinese chef at a restaurant in Dallas.[2] She is fluent in her native English and Chinese as well as some French,[3] Polish, and Russian. As a member of the Joint National Committee for Languages and the National Council for Languages and International Studies, Szczerbinski has lobbied the United States Congress for the funding of language education in public schools and met with the staffs of Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. She was honored for her studies of Standard Chinese by the Confucius Institute US Center on November 18.[4][5] She visited four cities in China within three weeks in 2017.
Szczerbinski attended Peter Chang's cooking class on dumplings on February 25, 2018.[6] She met Chang while attending his cooking class at the College of William & Mary.[7]
