Isaac Ghahramani Melik-Aghamalyan (Armenian:Իսահակ Ղահրամանի Մելիք-Աղամալյան, Russian:Исаак Каграмани Мелик-Агамалян) (1858, Yerevan, Viceroyalty of the Caucasus, Russian Empire; 1904, Yerevan, Russian Empire) was the sixth mayor of Yerevan.
Biography[edit]
Isahak Melik-Aghamalyan was born in 1858 in the family of Ghahraman Melik-Aghamalyan, a tribal noble prince. He was educated at St. Petersburg University, Faculty of Law. In addition, he has mastered several foreign languages. After returning from St. Petersburg,he started working at the courthouse in Tiflis. For many years, he worked as a notary in the Yerevan State Department. Thanks to his dedicated work, he reached the position of palace adviser and was then a member of the city administration. In 1898, the mayor, Vahan Ter-Sargsyan, died. In November, at the age of forty, Isahak Melik-Aghamalyan was elected mayor, who served for more than six years, until March 1904.
