Isaiah Reid (born 2002) is an American soccer player who currently plays college soccer for Clemson University. Reid is the most recent recipient for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament Most Outstanding Player in the Offensive category. Reid had previously played for the Charlotte Soccer Academy and the Charlotte Independence Academy teams.

Early life[edit]

Isaiah Reed was born and raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina, about 10 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina.[1]

Career[edit]

Youth and college[edit]

Reid began playing soccer at the age of 6, for the Discoveries Soccer Club in Rock Hill, South Carolina.[2] At the age of 14, he joined the Charlotte Soccer Academy where he played in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (the predecessor to MLS Next).[2] At the age of 16, while a sophomore in high school, Reid signed a National Letter of Intent to play college soccer for the Clemson Tigers men's soccer program.[2]

Reid joined the Tigers ahead of the 2019 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. He made his college debut on September 9, 2019 against USC Upstate. During his freshman year, he made seven appearances. Reid became a rotation player during his sophomore year, playing in 18 matches during the 2020 season.[3] On October 30, 2020 against Wake Forest in a 0–2 loss, Reid made his first collegiate start.[4] On March 7, 2021 Reid scored his first collegiate goal and assist in 3–1 victory against Syracuse.[5]

During his junior year, Reid had a breakout season with the Tigers, where the lead the team in goals and points during the season, which culminated with the Tigers winning the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship Game, giving the program their first national championship since 1987. Reid scored both goals for Clemson in their 2–0 victory against Washington. Following the match, Reid was awarded the Offensive MOP of the NCAA Tournament.[6] Reid finished the season with 22 appearances and 9 goals.
