Isenvad is a village in the Central Denmark Region of Denmark, with a population of 683 (2026).[1] It is located in Isenvad Parish, approximately 5 kilometres southeast of Ikast. The village is part of Ikast-Brande Municipality.
Among the facilities in the village is a new community centre, Isenvad Sentrum, a project costing approximately DKK 25 million, which was inaugurated in 2013.[2]
Isenvad is located in the Central Denmark Region and is administered by Ikast-Brande Municipality.
At a distance of 47 kilometres from the coast, Isenvad is the settlement in Denmark located farthest from the coast.
German occupation of Denmark
During the German occupation of Denmark during World War II, Isenvad was one of the towns where weapons were dropped from British aircraft. The village was considered suitable for supply drops because it was small and surrounded by extensive areas of shrubland, while still having open areas where supplies could be dropped.
Because the collection teams could leave the area before German forces could arrive from the barracks in Ikast or Christianshede, the location was considered suitable for supply drops. Supplies delivered to Isenvad were passed on to the Churchill Club.
