Islambek Rustambekov

Prof. Dr. Islambek Rustambekov (born December 15, 1985 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan) is an Uzbek lawyer, Doctor and Professor of Law at Tashkent State University of Law.

He is specialized in International Private Law, International Trade Law, ADR, in particular international arbitration and mediation.

He was a head of Department on Legal Protection of Interests of Uzbekistan in International and Foreign organization at Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.[1], and he currently sits on the Deputy Rector on Academic Affairs and Professor of International commercial law department at Tashkent State University of Law[2].

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND[edit]

In 2009, he graduated from master's degree in Tashkent State University of Law and continued his education as PhD researcher.

In 2010, he started his career as a lecturer at the department of International Private Law and later as a senior lecturer. He was a head of the departments of International Commercial Law and Business Law from 2013 to 2017. In 2015, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor. From 2017 to 2018, he was a head of the department on Management of Civil Society Institutions at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. From 2018 to 2019, he was a head of the department on Legal Protection of the Interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan in International and Foreign Organizations at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and represented the Republic of Uzbekistan in international arbitration cases and defended the interests of the state.

In 2018, he was the awarded the first place in the Republic contest of young scientists in the field of social sciences and humanities. Under his scientific supervision, there were prepared two researchers who gained Presidential scholarships, and 1 Navoi State scholarship and 1 PhD.

During his research, I.Rustambekov has exchanged experience in higher education and research institutions in Germany, France, Singapore, Russia and the United States. In particular, in 2017, he made a research at the Max Plank Institute of Comparative and International Private Law in Germany, and also participated in the training course at the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy.

From 2018 to 2019, he represented Uzbekistan in the Third Working Group of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and stated the interests of the country.

On September 19, 2019 he was appointed as the deputy-rector for academic affairs of the Tashkent State University of Law[3].
