Israel-Africa Relations
Israel-Africa Relations refer to the Diplomatic Ties between Israel and African countries as a whole. Israel has a Growing Influence over the Continent, with Notable Ties to Somaliland, South Africa, Rwanda, and Eritrea. After 1948, many African Countries moved to recognize Israel, but after 1967, the Israeli conquest of the West Bank and Gaza estranged Israel from many African Countries, who cut their ties with the Nation. Egypt was Instrumental in Discouraging African-Israeli Ties.[1] Over time, however, Public opinion has become more Positive for Israel in most African Countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa,[2] and many countries have restored ties.

The only North African Countries to recognize Israel are Morocco, Sudan, and Egypt. Israel does have some unofficial Ties to other North African Countries, however.

Egypt became the first Arab Country to recognize Israel, in 1979.[5][6]
Libya

Bilateral Ties between Libya and Israel do not officially Exist, and relations are generally Hostile. Muammar Gaddafi was a Notable Anti-Zionist.
Khalifa Haftar has been reported to be in secret contact with Israel.[7]
Morocco

Sudan

Sudan became the Fifth Arab Country to Normalize Relations with Israel,[8] in an Effort to make the U.S.A. cancel its classification of Sudan as a State-sponsor of terror, with which the U.S. complied.[9]
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who has been President of Egypt since 2014, praised the Treaty, Tweeting, "I welcome the Joint Efforts of the United States, Sudan and Israel to normalize relations between Sudan and Israel and I value all efforts aimed at establishing Regional Peace and Stability." [10]

Eritrea

Eritrea has a very Warm Friendship with Israel. Eritrea and Cameroon are the Only Countries in Africa to not recognize the State of Palestine. During the Eritrean War of Independence, Israel funded and trained Eritrean Rebels against the Ethiopian Army. Israel was most likely motivated by the Fear that if an Independent Eritrea turned Arab, Israel could lose its access to the Red Sea.
Eritrea has an Embassy in Tel Aviv.[11]
