Israel Gimba (born 17 September 1991) is a Canadian business investor, evangelist, and the founder of Gimbacorp, a private investment company based in Ottawa, Canada. He is widely recognized for his work in both the business and faith sectors, with a growing influence across Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Gimba serves as the president of Dunamis Revival,[1] a ministry based in Ontario, Canada.[2] Gimba has been described as a "fiery preacher" of the gospel, and is known for his evangelistic work with bringing millennials and generation Z (GEN-Z) to Christ. He is also a motivational speaker and international businessman.

As the Chief Executive Officer of Gimbacorp which oversees a diversified portfolio of companies spanning construction, logistics, media, finance, and technologoy. His leadership spans multiple markets, overseeing business operations and strategic ventures across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Early life

Israel Gimba was born on 17 September 1991 in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. He is the eldest of four male siblings. His father Isaac Gimba, claimed to have receive his name through an angelic dream five years before he was born. He was inducted into boarding school at the age of five and by seven his family emigrated to Brighton, England where he continued his primary and secondary school education. He was raised by his parents in the Pentecostal charismatic church. At the age of 15 his family moved to York in the north of England, where he completed his secondary education at Fulford school and bachelor's degree at The University of York. Gimba joined his family in Canada shortly after graduation and began transitioning into law school when he suddenly had a life changing encounter with God. This experience would divert him from his ardent pursuit of law into ministry work.[3]

Ministry career

Gimba is from a line of ministers. His father is currently a pastor and his grand father was a pastor as well. Following his revival experience, Gimba's career began on the streets. For 50+ hours a week he was on the streets of Ottawa ministering to the city's poor and homeless. After a year of street evangelism, he founded the Dunamis Army at the age of 24 and began organizing large evangelical events with the purpose of preaching the gospel. In 2016 he launched Dunamis Festival an annual evangelistic music event attracting national music artists and DJ's from around the world, leading many to Christ.[4] In 2023 Dunamis Festival was rebranded into JON (Jesus of Nazareth) Festival. The JON Festival has since attracted global award winning performances including from Grammy award winner Lecrae, Chandler Moore of Maverick City music, Dunamis District, KB, Hulvey and Mosses Bliss. Gimba comes from a family of entrepreneurs, making his entry into the business world a natural progression. By the age of 16, he was operating a soft drinks distribution venture in the United Kingdom before pausing to focus on his education. In 2017, he founded GimbaCorp initially launched as a mobile and web development company serving medium to large-scale clients. Since then, GimbaCorp has evolved into a diversified investment company with interests in construction, high technology, retail, and financial markets, including digital assets.

During this formative period, Gimba maintained a rigorous work ethic rising at 4 a.m. each day to work in commercial cleaning while simultaneously building his business ventures. He often reflects on those seven years as a cleaner as foundational, crediting that experience with shaping his perspective on leadership, humility, and long-term success. Within this time, Gimba would wake up at 4am each morning and travel to a cleaning job. For 7 years he was a cleaner whilst operating his enterprises, claiming he learnt more about success and leadership whilst carrying out commercial cleaning.

Influences

Gimba claims that the greatest influence on his worldview has "undoubtedly" been the work of Christ on earth. He was also deeply impacted by Charles Finney, William Booth, Kathryn Kuhlman and Smith Wigglesworth. He studied their lives and work over the course of several years and integrated many of their principles into his life and ministry. He has often referred to Finney as a theological genius.

Music

Gimba is also a musician and singer songwriter. He began playing lead guitar at the age of 13, drums at the age of 15, base guitar and keys from 17 years of age. He began leading worship in church at an early age and was invited to play at international venues in Nigeria, Canada, and the U.K. He is the retired lead singer of the Dunamis District band composing original songs. In 2021 Dunamis District released their first single; Fix my eyes.
