Israel Goytom
Israel Goytom (15, May 1995) is an Ethiopian entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CTO of Chapa[1][2], which he started with his friend, Nael Hailemariam in 2020. He won different awards while he was undergraduate student. In 2018 he was named "The African Inventor in China" for his A device for detecting similar proportions between micro-structures on PVC[3] work.
Early Life[edit]
Israel Goytom was born and grew up in Ethiopia, where he spent most of his time playing piano. He got his first computer when he was ten years old and he began writing code at the age of twelve. When he was in high school there was an internet cafe where he spent most of his time
Career[edit]
Israel started writing different programs as fun projects. In 2010 he centralized school's registration system and awarded. In 2014 Israel sold AFTP (Automatic File Transfer Platform) a software which helps students to get their course materials from FTP server with out any manual intervention after that he developed an Anti-malware software and sold to Ethiopian private universities. Right before founding Chapa he was working in Yoshua Bengio's[4] lab MILA[5] on problems related to Humanitarian AI with post doc Kris Sakaran.

Personal Life[edit]
Israel lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is a human right and climate activist. According to Israel, he reads books and is interested in a broad range of subjects on history, technology, engineering, philosophy and psychology. He sporadically share his taught and opinions to his twitter[7].
