Israel competed in qualifiers for the UEFA Euro 1996. This marked Israel's first UEFA European Championship qualification attempt, out of ten such tournaments. Israel had last competed in a regional tournament in 1968.[1] Israel was expelled from the AFC in the early 1970s and eventually became a member of UEFA.[2]
