Issuer Alternative Name (IAN) is an extension to X.509v3 that allows multiple values to be added to X509 security certificates. While the Subject Alternative Name (SAN) field specifies additional values (such as host names and IP addresses) that can be associated with the certificate subject[1], the Issuer Alternative Name (IAN) field generally provides additional or alternative values for the certificate issuer (Distinguished Name)[2][3] or CRL (certificate revocation list)[4][5]. Values for Issuer Alternative Name (issuserAltName) tend to match the Subject Alternative Name of the parent certificate[6], and may include (but not be limited to):
