Ivan Fyodorovich Karamazov

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Bernhard Goetzke took on the role of Ivan Karamazov in 1921.

Ivan Fyodorovich Karamazov is the protagonist of the novel ″The Karamazov Brothers″ and at the same time is "only a witness" in the trial of the murder of his father, the old pervert.

Without decoding this image, it is impossible to explain "his mystery" and the whole novel. [1] According to the older brother, "Ivan is a grave". Alyosha says directly: "Ivan is a mystery".

The incredible master of the pen, Dostoevsky, loves puns. The three brothers have their own hypostasis.[2]

The key phrase is finally book V "Pro and Contra" by Iván Karamázov: "Goodbye to everything previous, it's over with the previous world forever; let there be no more news or bone than him; in a new world, in new places and without looking back! ” On the way to Moscow (Moscow, third Rome).

If there is a person who is Ivan's "other conscience" – Pavel Fyodorovich Smerdyakov – for his dirty work, then the intellectual Ivan must answer the question "Why?", That is, give the motive. And the protagonist reveals it beautifully in the chapters of the novel "Rebellion" and "The Grand Inquisitor". The key phrase for understanding the whole novel was uttered by Alyosha after the end of the story about the great inquisitor of Ivan - "... this is Rome ...".

If there is any historical figure without whom the history of Russia is impossible, as we know it today and as it was for Dostoevsky, it is the image of the first Russian tsarIvan the Terrible.
