Ivan Nagiba - Russian explorer of the 17th century, Yakut Cossack.

Around 1650, Yerofey Khabarov set out from Yakutsk with a large detachment of Cossacks to explore the Amur. There was no news of him for more than a year and a half. Then, Nagiba set out from Yakutsk with a detachment of 30 people to search for him.[1]

Having reached the Amur and parted ways with Khabarov, he built several boats and, going down, despite the opposition of the Daurs and especially the Gilyaks , reached the mouth of the river. During the voyage along the Amur, Nagiba wrote a description of it.[1]

Having gone out to sea and repelled the attack of the Gilyaks on his heavy boats, Nagib was wrecked by a storm. Cast ashore by it, he and some of his comrades reached the "Rock" (Stanovy Mountains) with great difficulty, spent the autumn at the mouth of an unknown river, and only in 1653, having reached the Lena, returned to Yakutsk.[1]
