Ivar Adolf Virgin (22 November 1844 – 14 February 1920) was a Swedish Reserve Officer who commanded several different Swedish units. He is the son of Christian Adolf Virgin[2] and the father of Ivar Virgin the Younger and Eric Virgin.
Biography
Virgin became a lieutenant in the Västgöta Regiment in 1865 and a lieutenant in 1874.[3][4] He was a Courier officer in the Third Military District's staff from 1879 to 1884, became a captain in the Swedish Army in 1884 and in the Trängbataljonen in 1885 and a major and commander of the Göta Logistic Regiment in 1893.[3][5] Virgin was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1894.[3] He then commanded the Scanian Logistic Battalion from 1894 until 1907[6], also acting head of Östgöta Logistic Battalion from 1903 to 1907.[3] He became a colonel in the Swedish Army in 1898 and was a reserve commander from 1907 to 1909.[6] Virgin is buried in the Norra begravningsplatsen outside Stockholm.
