Ivy Lord (née Lord; Born May 1928 in London, England, wrote using the pseudonyms Elizabeth Lord and later Maggie Ford. Ivy Lord was a British author who wrote more than 30 romance novels. Her novels have been published since 1994 by: Piatkus, Severn House, Penguin Random House and Canelo (publisher). Ivy Lord was the chairman of the Billericay Writers' Group, and a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association.

Biography[edit]

Ivy "Lord" was born in May 1928 in Bethnal Green, East London. She worked as personal assistant and secretary, but after her 2nd marriage, she opened a flower nursery in Dunton Wayletts, Essex. She wrote her first successful article following an armed robbery at the nursery, which was accepted and published in a popular magazine. She started to write Romantic Fiction from 1975, and her first romance novel was published by Piatkus, under the pseudonym Elizabeth Lord. After the death of her second husband, Ivy Lord moved to Billericay where she wrote from a small office in a spare bedroom. Even well into her 80's Ivy Lord was still writing published romantic fiction but under her second pseudonym, Maggie Ford.

Widowed twice, she lived in the Essex town of Billericay in England, where she lived alone until she entered a retirement home in 2018. Lord passed away in 2020.
